A conference of environment ministers of various states was held today at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district of Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also joined it through video conferencing. During his address, the Prime Minister made a strong attack on urban Naxalism, referring to the Narmada scheme.
The Prime Minister alleged that urban Naxals and politically-backed anti-development elements had stalled the construction of the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River in Gujarat for several years. He closed the Narmada scheme in the name of environment.
Addressing the environment ministers, Prime Minister Modi said that he has completed the works started by the first Prime Minister of the country, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
